Mandlethu Secondary School

Rise with Power: a name, a crest and an invitation to take the next step.

What can “Rise with Power” mean in a school day?

Sometimes it means asking a question instead of pretending to understand. Sometimes it means practising again, welcoming a new classmate or taking responsibility for your part in a group task.

These are practical ways to reflect on the school’s motto, rather than a statement of an official mission or policy.

Families are part of the conversation

Listen first

Ask your child what felt manageable today and where they felt unsure. A specific question often starts a better conversation than “How was school?”

Make space to practise

Agree a regular study time, look at the week’s tasks together and celebrate effort as well as results.

Ask the right question

For an admissions, learning or wellbeing concern, ask the school office which staff member or role can help. Avoid sharing private learner details publicly.

Get to know the school before you decide

Ask about the grades and subjects offered, languages of learning, learner support, facilities, school routines and family participation. Request the school’s approved mission, vision and history directly.
